HoloTouch Core Technology Patent Granted by Japan Patent Office

Stamford, Connecticut, August 1, 2008 – R. Douglas McPheters, President of HoloTouch, Inc. , announced today that the Japan Patent Office has granted Japan Patent Number 4130957 dated June 6, 2008 to HoloTouch, Inc., with respect to the company’s core technology, invented by McPheters.  After 9:00 A.M. (Japan Standard Time), on August 6, 2008, Japan Patent Number 4130957 may be viewed by visiting Japan Industrial Property Digital Library Home Page.

Japan Patent Number 4130957 validates the company’s core touchless, holographic HoloTouch® HMI technology in yet another major world market. HoloTouch core technology is already the subject of Canadian Patent 2,160, 245, US Patent 6,377,238 and UK Patent No. 2292711, with an additional patent application pending in Germany. Substantial enhancements to HoloTouch, in both compactness and durability, are subject to US Patent 7,054,045 and additional patent applications pending in Australia, Canada, the European Union and Japan.

Reached at his Stamford office, McPheters said: “issuance of Japan Patent 4130957 buttresses our intellectual property protection in significant world markets. This event is indeed timely as we ramp up development of our single “button” touchless, holographic switches, designed to provide cleaner and indestructible entry and exit controls for facilities such as clean rooms, hospitals, schools and other public facilities where durability and hygiene are especially important. Entry and exit switches employing HoloTouch technology are designed to replace existing devices, at lower cost, both initially and over time. Competitively priced touchless, multi-“button” controls for a wide variety of electronic equipment are also easily available. We license HoloTouch technology to OEMs for specific applications, such as the multi- “button” medical and sports human-machine interface licenses currently in process. In connection with growing products making use of our innovative technology, we also offer all holographic and opto-electronic design, engineering and manufacturing services needed to complete prototyping as well as provide product in volume.”

HoloTouch, Inc. is a Connecticut Technology Fast Track company and has been repeatedly recognized by industry groups and publishers for its technological excellence, innovation and product development including readers and editors of Control Engineering, Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Partnership, Connecticut Technology Council and International Hologram Manufacturers Association.
