Broad, New Japan Patent Validates Enhancements to HoloTouch® HMI Technology, Projecting Compact, Intuitive, Touchless, Holographic HMIs
Stamford, Connecticut, January 6, 2013 – R. Douglas McPheters, President of HoloTouch, Inc., announced today that the Japan Patent Office has granted the company Japan Patent Number 5113922, covering several ways to apply HoloTouch touchless, holographic HMI technology, invented by McPheters, to increasingly smaller, more compact and less expensive controls and other electronics.
HoloTouch technology and its sophisticated refinements were already the subject of Australia Patent 2004258513, Canada Patents 2,160, 245 and 2,530,987, Japan Patents 4130957 and 4741488, US Patents 6,377,238 and 7,054,045 as well as UK Patent 2292711. An additional patent application is pending in the European Union. The company’s intellectual property is now fully protected in major commercial markets.
McPheters observed “the granting of Japan Patent 5113922 is particularly encouraging because it recognizes a variety of sophistications to our core technology by the Japanese IP protection scheme. The Japan Patent Office is well-known for its attention to detail and demanding standards for recognizing novelty in patent application, factors which make the granting of this far-reaching and important patent even more satisfying. Innovative use of these intuitive but touchless human-machine interfaces, employing these enhancements to our core technology forecasts a wide variety of comfortable virtual interfaces even as the size of hardware continues to shrink beyond the size of human fingers. We continue to innovate in order to offer technology to build creative, virtual HMIs with no moving parts to fail under use or abuse and no contamination transfer issues.”
